A Tale of Two Minis, my wizard of wor mini restoration project

I picked up my wizard of wor mini many years ago from a local collector, Brian Morris. It had been converted into a Shinobi but the cabinet was sound, the price was right and heck, it was a mini. I was heavy into my buy-whatever-I-can-find phase at that time, so of course I had about a dozen projects lined up before I could even think about this cab. A year or so later I had an opportunity to buy yet another WoW mini, this one in even better shape and I jumped at the chance. I figured that between the two cabs I could pull out one nice working game. Fast forward to the present and I'm ready to tackle this game, with one exception. I've decided that they are both worthy of a complete restoration and I hope to have two nice working WoW's very soon. One will go to a local collector and the other will fight for a spot in my game room against the likes of Gorf and Satan's Hollow. Did I mention that I've never even played WoW? Should be fun!

Chris if you can't save the mini bezel for the second I may have one in storage in pretty nice shape. Get those guys done. I also have some nice repro sources for overlays and 1 offs digitally. I just had to make a bezel for Stargate Mini and it looks fantastic reverse printed on the back of smoked glass. As for a CPO overlay get a nice scan of the original and have Scott at Mame Marquees print a 1 off or send it to me and I will help out with local printers.

Chris how is this project coming? I finally finished my UR WOW and it looks cherry. Finally had a chance to play it tonight again after about 4 years sitting. The difference is the cab is now restored 100%. Damn great game and not the same in a Multi Williams cab with AS board. Truely unique in original cabs sound wise and with speech.

Man, even though I'll never see or touch either one of these in person it makes me happy to see a restoration. That's a heck of a great 2 player game (fun for one but better for 2) and cabaret's rock. This one is a particularly nice one.

WOW is a great game. I love the speech! Good luck on this one. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Chris, anyway to improve that darn woodgrain finish? hee hee. Well, looking forward to this restoration. I don't recall ever playing WOW so maybe it's time to pull it up into mame.

@ Bill Jr.

The artwork for the UR was done at some point I believe. I know the cp's were repro'd as I used to have a nice arcaderenovations repro...it was amazing, screened on the metal and everything. I don't believe any artwork exists for the mini. I will be scanning the cp front art and the cpo as mine are in great shape. To add to the community pool of available scans. The marquee's, well I got lucky there too. You'll have to wait until my next post though :-)

Does any art exist or are you creating everything from scratch?
