Nice, I'll do that.

Now that is one I have never seen. Pretty sweet cab, and looks to be in great shape! Congrats!

I confess, strawberry red, it's a local favorite.

Nice paint job! Sure that's not "Strawberry" Red ?

Good color choice on the sides! If I ever decide to paint my Renegade over, I will make a note of that color.

I own one of these also. Nice that the whole board just slides out with the bottom drawer. I used the vacume/brush attachment method without a problem. Mine had a mouse nest, made from the front cover of the game manual, how nice. Fun game, but big…

So this weekend I installed the back door, door lock, and cut the front opening for the coin door. My 1/16th slot router bit arrived, so I cut the t-molding groove. Piece of cake. I sanded the whole thing down with tender loving care, and began to…

I believe what we are seeing on this site, are some of the most talented people in the hobby. Some of these guys are taking this to an artform. If I can ever do a restore that is half as good as some of these I'll be happy. You'll probably never fi…

Just a small update here tonight. I wasn't able to get much done this weekend. I did however, brace the bottom of the cab up a little. Then I attached leg levelers. All seems to be sturdy so far.

How did you get that power block looking so clean? This thing is going to be amazing!

You guys may be right, but I hope to get by with just some gussets added in for strength. If it starts to fall apart I'll try doing something else. My pattern is from a Moon Patrol, if you check my earlier blog you can see how I traced it. I know,…

Very nice looking cabinet your building there. I'll agree with Chris. Some sort of brackets would be a good idea to keep the biscuits happy and in place. That being said, a lot of cabinets are assembled without screws so it might be perfectly fine.
April 26, 2009
Nice looking cabinet that you're building but i would definitely entertain the idea of screwing some brackets on the inside of the panels, glue and biscuits alone wont keep this heavy cabinet together.

Also, what cabinet are you modeling that after? AFAIK, Renegade was released only as a kit. Mine is in a Qix cab.

Back at it again.

After a very long time of doing absolutely nothing on this project, I decided to tackle it again, on of all days, Labor day.
There is no real reason that I have slacked on this, other than being a complete slob.

I was fortunate enough to receive a super fresh Happ Vision Pro. This baby is sweet, well I should say "SICK" as that seems to be the new phrase.

I basically mounted a shelf where I thought the monitor would look right. Yes, there was the little distraction of getting the angle aligned… Continue

Renegade project, week 4

Central Florida has been under a drought for 3 years now. So we really need, and appreciate the rain. It has rained every day, for the last week. I can't really say if this has been a good thing for my project or bad. Each coat of paint has taken days to dry. I think it should take until sometime this summer to completely cure. As you can tell, the pictues are bad, and in poor lighting, due to the very humid overcast conditions.

As I said in the last blog, I used the odorless Kilz primer. The o… Continue

Scratch Build Continues

So this weekend I installed the back door, door lock, and cut the front opening for the coin door. My 1/16th slot router bit arrived, so I cut the t-molding groove. Piece of cake.

I sanded the whole thing down with tender loving care, and began to lay down the first coat of primer. Based on what many sources have said, I chose the Kilz oil-base. I used the odorless version, and I have to say, it's pretty sweet. I test sanded a small section after it dried, and it sands down very smooth. My plan… Continue

Renegade Biscuits and Gravy

Biscuits, because I used a biscuit joiner for this cabinet, and no screws. Gravy, cause it went together so nice! I'm no Norm Abram, I can be totally honest here and say, with my general lack of skills and tools, this is a butt-load of work. It's the best way to learn, so with this, I am well on my way.

I managed to work out the dimensions, and cut out the various components during the week. So here you can see me test fitting the parts, and finally glueing it all together and clamping it down.… Continue

Dedicated Renegade Project Begins

My entry into this amazingly addictive hobby began with the purchase of a Renegade PCB on Ebay. At the time I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I did'nt exactly have a plan. I only knew that, if I was going to own a full size arcade game, it would have to be Renegade. While it was not exactly a popular title, it held a certain mystic for me. I remember playing it at the arcade in the late 80's. It would've been one of the first fighting games on the scene, and to my knowledge it was on… Continue

If I'm lucky, I'll be going back to Ocala for a job interview in a week or so. I could bring it that far if it works out.

I saw where you are looking for a Missile Command. I have one in Tallahassee. It's a project game that I just don't have time to finish. When completed it will be really minty. It comes with new unapplied side art and a minty control panel with new rollers. It needs board repair to play. As I recall I could get it to boot but it had some RAM errors. I'm trying to get my investment back out of it. Call me if you are interested at 850-894-8103.
