Hello Q-berters, I love Q-bert and have wanted one for quite some time. I am in the process of procuring a really nice Q-bert cocktail game (already put down a deposit and am picking up in the next few days). I am not sure if it works or not, as the gent selling it only tried to plug it in with no response. It looks to be in really good shape and apparently has everything in it. It may actually work when we hit the power button but it may need some work. I was wondering if anyone can give me an idea of what a fair price is for this game in its condition and at this point- non-working status. I have only seen one or two of these in the past, were the cocktails rare (not produced in large numbers)? Thanks a lot! I hope to be putting up nice scores soon, but I have my work cut out for me with this incredible group of Q-berters.

I'm not sure what a fair price is for a non-working cocktail. However, seeing the condition of that I'd open your wallet and don't let her slip by. That thing is a beauty and it's most likely a power supply problem... But you will still need to go over everything. Is everything there? I don't know, maybe $200-$300.00. If you can get it for under $200 that is even better.

Artwork doesn't exist for cocktails so if you want a cocktail QB don't let this slip by (depending on the price he's asking and what you can afford obviously).

Thanks a lot Bill, that is rigt around what we have negotiated. He did not know that they have power switches, so it may actually work. If so, he may try to get more. I agree though, it appears to be in really good shape, and I don't plan on letting this one slip by. Been wanting a Q-bert for many years, and also want to add cocktail to my collection- so the best of both worlds hopefully. I have not played a lot of games as cocktails and definitely not Q-bert, hopefully it will still be fun, even with the little monitor. I am not very technical yet with these games, so taking on non-working games is always a bit scary, but that machine looks so nice, I can't imagine it is too bad off mechanically. He also has a few other games (including a Black Knight pinball) that are all in comparable shape, and the same story- working status unknown, as he only tried to plug them in. Seems like whoever owned them originally had some nice games in nice shape. Thanks again for the info Bill.

Q*bert is kind of "hell" if you don't know how to work a multimeter. However, this was my third game purchase and my first game I ever bought that didn't work. I didn't overly know how to work a multimeter and I finally got my voltage correct but I was having other issues... In the end it ended up being a harness issue that Takeman found and fixed for me.

Oh yeah... Forgot that cocktails used 13" monitor. BLAH. However, lots of cool artwork on top!

If your not comfortable with a multimeter and don't mind bringing it to st. clair shores I could assist you in finding your problems.

Does he have any other games that I might be interested in and your not? If so, shoot me an e-mail to AUDIOMIDIMAN at GMAIL dot COM ...

Usually the glass on these are flaking terribly....and this one doesn't look to have it, so it is a piece to pick up...

And it sounds like you are going to keep it, correct?

That cocktail is a beast, one of the best for artwork, but such a huge footprint for such a tiny tiny monitor. I saw one at an operator not too far from me, and the glass was flaking pretty bad.

Yes, definitely planning on keeping it. And I agree, it seems like the cabinet is pretty large for how big the monitor actually is. It looks like there is some light flaking or small scratches on the glass, but overall it looks pretty darn nice. I am pretty excited about picking this one up. Hopefully it will not take much to get er running.
