I am ok with not having a prize. I agree it would be good to have more people involved.

Any time, no prize necessary.

I'm gone the 14-20 this month though :(

I've got a multi with Qubes on it. I don't think I can compete until I get the center of my game room unloaded though. Too many games and not enough room is my problem.

We will do another one and very soon. So, how long do you guys want this one to go on? 1 week? 2 weeks? A month? Also, if we don't have a prize will you guys be fine with just "bragging rights"? So, who's in right now?

It would be nice if we had more people involved. Also, who has a QUBES board or a Multi Q*bert board? Would you guys be up for a Qubes HS contest as well?
Jennifer Dyson Comment by Jennifer Dyson on June 2, 2009 at 9:35pm
I will totally join the competition this time! From what I understand, you are having a "high score" and a "most improved" competition. Sounds like fun. Thanks for having another competition. I was disappointed that I didn't get to participate last time.

Phoenix Arcade has swearing marquees.. You just need to contact him direct. I believe he had some that spell out a famous "f" word as well. No longer in stock. :)

I'm up for the high score contest!

I finally made it to level 4 yesterday, got close to 90K points.

I always seem to lose like 2-3 guys right in a row! So frustrating. I understand now why the marquee used to have swearing on it.

Hey Tronic. Unless Rich or someone else steps up to offer a prize this will most likely be "bragging rights".

Basically "BEFORE" you start the competition you need to submit your current high score with a photo. You can submit this photo ANYTIME during the competition. Just needs to arrive "BEFORE".

So, if my current high score is 150,000 that would be my "starting" hight score... If I end at 200,000 I'd have a 33.3% Improvement. However, if someone has 50,000 as their starting score and ends up getting a 125,000 they would have a 150% improvement. So, the 150% improvement would win.

I think we should have 2 score boards... One being "best improvement" and the other one being "Highest Score"... So, Jen would only need to play for an hour to kick our buts in the "Highest Score" competition.

Getting to level 9 could even be factored in.

The advantage of the "best improved score" is that we will get members will lower scores to participate.

How's this going to work? Is it going to go by percentages? If so you run into the problem of some people never having played in the competition before and don't show a score to improve on, so theirs would be 100% improvement.
Maybe you could have two T-shirt prizes, one for those who can make it past level 9 and another prize for those who can't. I think that would be a good place to split the competition and still keep it even for everyone.
