Not exactly sure when this showed up in Mame but it is very interesting to see the difference in the Mr. Do! character.  He's not a clown but some kind of white looking man.  His face looks hilarious when he's pushing an apple.  The music is…Continue

How is the artwork for Mr. Do! coming along? Any idea what kind of $$$ we are looking at?

I found a dedicated Mr. Do! that has been painted all black and converted to a Arkanoid.  Still has the Mr. Do! bezel and artwork above the monitor.   So I'd need side artwork, control panel overlay and Marquee if I end up buying it.Would love to…Continue

I was really focused for awhile on trying to beat a high score that was posted over at BYOAC. I just couldn't do it. Until tonight. That posted score was 275,750. I just topped it, but once you get up into the level 20+, it doesn't take too much if…Continue

Here are some of the tips I have for players.1. Get two letters per level as much as possible. Go around, get points, and force out the letter. Time it right so you get a letter that you need, blow them up, and then go for the treasure in the middle…Continue

Does anyone know why there are 2 types of bezels for Mr. Do??  One has a blue colored line around the inside rectangle and the other style has the pink line instead.  I see that Chris Moore's has the blue line and so does mine... but all the other pictures in here show pink.

@Zack... Yup, it's in great shape!!! Just picked it up yesterday and shoved him into the garage. The lights don't seem to be firing up though when I tested the boards.

Great score Bill! I was hoping to hear about that one staying close and going to another collector. He looks to be in great shape. Do the bulbs work on the backglass and marquee. I still have not been able to get them anywhere local.

Very little activity here on the Mr. Do group so I thought I'd stop in to share the fat I finally own a dedicated Mr. Do.

Here is some info on it...

Hey guys. Who can tell me what the status is of the dedicated control panel overlay (cpo) repro project? There's gotta be enough interest in this to make it viable, no? Seems a shame if we've got vectorized artwork and that's as far as it goes.

Can anyone provide detail on the original mr do joystick? In the flyer I see what looks like a white dust washer or something but I don't see it in enough detail to say for sure. I picked up an original joystick for my cabinet and it looks like the black dust washer will fall into the cp's hole. I'm not sure if my cp's hole was enlarged for the joystick that's in it now or what. So I'm trying to get a sense of what original is supposed to be so I can try to come as close to that as possible.

And on that note, my restoration is basically complete other than getting this joystick in. Check out the pics in my restoration thread on klov: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=170640

Zach, what it sounds like what your describing to us is that it might be like a Nintendo marquee light fixture. The small bulb is probably a starter bulb. Those main flourescent bulbs measure 13.5 as well. So is it all one fixture and you have to plug the assembly into another outlet inside the cabinet ? I think those fixtures work on 100VAC.
Comment by TheShanMan on January 12, 2011 at 5:50pm

The screw in part is likely the starter. See my klov thread from just the other day: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=166427.

Mine is different in that it isn't a screw in style starter. But either way you'll see in my thread what to get. You'll also want to verify whether the voltage going to the lights are coming off of 100v taps or 120v taps of the transformer. In my case it was 120 but I've heard it is 100 for others. The 100v bulbs are more expensive, and are the same as what you'd use on Nintendo cabs (lots of discussions on this if you search - I think it's a topic in the DK group here). It might work fine if you use the wrong voltage bulb, but who knows how much shorter the life of the bulb would be.

Finally, you could always use a generic fluorescent light from home depot or wherever which is easier and cheaper, but obviously not original if that matters to you. You'd still want to know if the feed is 100v or 120v.

Hope that's helpful.
