Pole Position Dashboard Decal.. Vectorisation Project.
Stumbled across a Pole Position NOS Dashboard Decal on ebay a little while ago. Has been on there for quite some time. The legendary PP is one of my grail cabs that I'm looking at bringing down to OZ from the US sometime this year... hence my interest (Wilmington .. Longbeach is where my importers ship from) Rich has already repro'd the CPO and sideart ... and an important piece of artwork like this dashboard decal needs to be catalogued at least!!
Hence ... I decided to purchase the piece in the last week or so. BUT ... I thought .. having the piece shipped down to me here in OZ is not the best idea, as no-one down here in OZ is knowledgeable in screenprinted arcade artwork reproduction.. and if Rich .. Darin .. Brian etc wanted access to the original in the future ... I'd have to ship the girl over the big blue seas at, currently, stupid prices.
So ... I decided to donate the decal to Jeff Rothe, due to his close links with Rich & Brian ... plus an obvious good home for this small, but important piece imo, to sit. Paypal'd him the $$$ the other day .. and he snapped it up.
Next step? When Jeff is not so busy, he is scanning the piece for me ... taking some reference registration dimensions .. and then I can start tracing and color separating this baby during my spare downtime on nightshift @ work.
I'm thinking of hitting up the marquee after this, as I have access to a scan.
Ready to start my engine .... :)
