I'm going to build a multicade type machine and I bought what I thought was a Konami Super Basketball machine today for $50. It has a pretty sharp monitor and everything was there so I thought it was an OK deal. Once I got it home and opened it up I found out it was a converted Data East Burgertime machine with a Super Basketball kit installed. The conversion instructions were still inside and the original Marquee was there with a film print of Super Basketball stuck over it.
The cab was HUO for a long time but is has been sitting derelict for at least 15 years. It does not work although the monitor powers up OK and displays a screen full of O shapes. The cab is in pretty good shape and it will make a dandy conversion.

Does anyone know what 19" monitor this game might have? There is nothing to identify it on the chassis and I've been over it 10 times. It has a Toshiba tube labeled 510ywb22 and there are only these marks on the PCB, EL10Y.

I can post pics of the monitor if this will help determine what the heck it is. I might want to put caps in it and I thought maybe there would be a kit out there if I can figure out what it is.

Thanks,
Brian

Pictures please. I have a deco manual I was planning to send to Jeff R in the next few days...I'm sure he'd be happy to share info with you. You might also try the arcade archives for manuals, there are a ton there.
I'll post more after I charge the camera.
Brian...you and I may be in the same boat. I am going to give my filthy monitor a good cleaning tomorrow, and was hoping that it would help me identify it.

Is the cabinet you speak of the presidential wood grain type sides? Or is that underneath, I should say...if it was converted, maybe there are basketball decals on the side...
Woodgain sides. Plain, no decals. I skimmed the conversions instuctions I found inside the machine and the kit included a JAMMAish harness into which the old game harness was connected (hacked) to, there was a piggyback board attached to the old PCB and the new harness was plugged into that. The kit included a third button to install into the original Burger Time control panel which is alread pre-punched with about 5 button holes. The kit also included a marquee "wrap" that overlaid the original Marquee plexi. A decent conversion overall but most of it is going in the round file....
I got another couple of pics up of the monitor PCB, can anyone tell what it is?

Are you going to keep it a Super Basketball? Or what are you planning to do with the game?

Can you post a photo showing the control panel in more detail...?
I'm making a 48-1 multicade out of it. The Super Baketball board appears to be inop, monior only displays a test pattern on startup. The monitor has some burn from being a Burgertime and a Super Basketball, but it is serviceable. If you want the Super Basketball board you can have it for shipping. I'll post more pics tonight if you want to see the control layout.
OK here is a pic of the control panel.
Something is wrong, can't post pics or edit....

If you're going multicade: Make sure there's an eight way joystick in that machine. Don't forget to install two fire buttons. I would dump the monitor and go with a 19" crt monitor. On the 48/1 board, dipswitch two allows you to move between a traditional analog arcade monitor or a digital crt. That lightbulb in the marquee can go too. Replace that with a 16" rigid led light bar. If you have questions let me know I've built a few of these machines. I have extra 48/1 cards for sale if you need one. $100 flat.
