Well things were a bit slow at the shop this week so I made a quick sign for myself instead of customers for a change. My arcade has a medieval theme so I went with "Little John's" for a name.
Here it is lit up in the dark...
And here it is with the lights on so you can see it...
It is CNC router cut and digitally printed. It is backlit with a string of xmas lights. I didn't go
all out as this is sort of temporary.
Well I guess going all out would have been spending money on it instead of building it out of scraps
around the shop and an old string of xmas lights :) All the helmets and stuff I already had. Overall
it reminds me of a place called Green Gables when I was a kid here in Phoenix. Glad you like it.
The font for the body copy is Sunsplash, a favorite of mine for ye old type signwork. The L is
a stock illuminated L I found somewhere with the outter box removed. The background art
was an old illustration of Robin Hood and some merrymen I quickly redrew and scanned.
Both pieces are cut out of MDO, spaced about an inch apart and the xmas lights are stapled
to the back side of the text piece. Overall about 4 hrs worth of work.
Man, that looks great! I am inspired now to make a themed sign for mine, as most of my stuff is in a genuine fallout shelter, and I would love to give it a "Red Scare/Cold War"-type theme.
I also love the lute. Do you play? Sorry to get a little OT...
A fallout shelter eh? I have some great ideas for that. Your logo should include the old Civil Defence "CD" logo and be called something like "The Shelter Arcade". You should have some civil defense helmets on the wall and perhaps a giger counter, old aluminum flashlights, ammo boxes, canned goods (empty or use it as a second pantry), and an old 50'sor 60's AM/FM radio on some shelves. You could even replace your light fixtures in the room with electric converted camping style lanterns.
As to the Lute no I don't play. That one is badly damaged anyway so It sounds terrible.
