Coinopspace improvements - Chat, Photos, Videos and more

I am very excited that for the first time Ning posted last week a general idea about their development plan. I am still outspoken that they should make feature requests an open policy system and not a closed door one to one response dialogue...but this is helpful.

I don't know what a revamp on the photos / media sections are...but if I had to guess, it would be more bells and whistles using AJAX...but that is purely speculation.

I am also pumped they are going to beef up chat...which works well now, but could always be more robust. I would still like to see a flashing browser window, much like gmail chat, when you have a private chat msg.

Had a moment of downtime and got to check up on the improvement announcements.

Ning has made an update to the second chat upgrade announcement. Chat is being upgraded again, (originally on Feb. 25th) and now on March 25th with additional features including, finally, a fully expandable window! Plus, the text getting cutoff should be fixed too....

I heard back from Ning today on chat messages getting cutoff.

Looks as though there is a 250 character limit per message, which probably as a rule across their 1 million networks, is probably pretty sufficient. For us, probably not.....but we just have to kind of deal with it.
Jeff,

I couldn't agree more, and thanks for providing the detailed information. It's obviously frustrating to me and embarassing when dealing with someone of such size to find out that things are acting up again at about 8:00pm, too late to really do anything without totally rescheduling.

I want this to be fun, simple, and enjoyable for everyone, and I certainly don't want anyone to have issues.

We are going to seriously look at turning off the default client and going with another option. I don't think due to my final class load coming really close to the next chat the first weekend of May that I will be able to thoroughly test another option, but I hope by the next session in June that we will have another source.

If you would like to leave feedback, the only way I can help is if you can provide your Operating System, Browser, and version number. All feedback will be submitted to Ning.
