I had mentioned that I would like to get some former arcade game creators / related noteable people in here for some set chat times.

I proposed this again to the guys chatting today, and heard nothing back.

I have a short list of the people I want to contact. But I would like to hear if there is someone you would like to see get on the site and chat with us.

Jeff, are you looking for members or special guests? I vote that someone like Mike Doyle, Jrok, Mspaeth, and other people who have created enhancement kits and add ons for original PCB's. How about Jeff Kulczycki to discuss Donkey Kong 2 (d2K) and what was involved with creating D2K and his other kits? Jrok would be a good candidate to discuss his new multiwilliams kit and Mike Doyle / Dave Widel to discuss their Multi Q*bert kit and how they released it so quickly with newly added games and easter egg sounds in the new menu system. How about a reproduction art discussion time? Not sure what would be talked about but maybe some tips for scanning cabinet art and using that artwork to vector the file (discussing layers). Maybe Rich and Brian could discuss prepping files to for silk screening, Solvent Ink Jet and stencils. They could both discuss what to look for when choosing a screener or a digital output facility (and why you wouldn't want to hand your files over to kinkos).

Is this the kind of input your looking for?

Also, is it possible for people to have to get accepted into these "Chat" discussions before or during the discussion? To keep "on the subject". Better yet, how about a separate chat room for these scheduled discussions?

Bill
I'd love to be sitting in on a chat with Eugene Jarvis... that guy is fascinating and very funny!! I'd love to hear some of the old Atari stories typed/webcasted by the guys there... I know, we've all watched alot of videos of interviews, but something like a Q&A would be sweet!
Eugene is on my list. I have to find some contact information.

Bill....interesting ideas. These actually hadn't occured to me. I have read already, true or not, that Mark isn't interested in looking at another forum, so I don't want to bug him personally. But the other guys, maybe. Jrok has come out and said the site is too busy....but I wouldn't mind contacting him anyway even if he's not interested.

But I hadn't thought about guys who made custom kits and such. Good ideas in general.

As for 'accepted'. There will be rules...surprised right? Most of the rules will pertain to language, to keep things extremely friendly for creators. Subject rules would be good too. The admin can ban anyone from chat for a certain hourly period, so if anyone starts talking about drinking or using inappropriate language when these guys donate their time, they won't be able to participate, only read.

I think it would probably be in the main chat area so everyone can see, and there are no joining issues. I want people that might not find out when I got to promote it to stumble across it.
This is a great idea! I'd love to reconnect with Craig G over at Retro Gamer magazine for perhaps a connection to Alan McNeil. I was only one email away from meeting him, as they wrote a bio for Berzerk and Frenzy. I need to ask him if he'll let me post that Berzerk prototype art jpg he sent me while trading emails/pic of my upright - you guys would love it. Last email he said Alan had just unearthed his Frenzy disks and was having a blast. I think he would really dig a chat here.
I'm for everyone mentioned already for sure. Others I might suggest if possible:
Dave Nutting
Shigeru Miyamoto (DK)
Yoshiki Okamoto (Gyruss)
...Woz

Think big! :D
Great ideas... I'm going to do a friendly BUMP.
Wait until there are more members.
LOL. Why?

It's already in the process, with two that have confirmed interest and we're nailing down dates.
Hey Jeff, you know I think this is a great idea. I don't think we need to wait for more members like the poster a couple above me stated. This will actually help generate more members. That's like saying don't advertise until we get more customers.

I think the DK2 discussion would be cool.

You should just go ahead and ask Steve Jobs to do a chat about Breakout...lol

Just got off the phone with Steve... He hung up on me... Both Steve's that is. ;)
That's kind of what I was thinking Preston....that seems like a vicious cycle, and an undefined comment. Wait until what? 500 members? 1000 members? I am not convinced that half of the people that have joined this last week are going to even be all that active...some came from Ning, meaning they may not even own any games.

I am hoping that Tim Skelly will be up first. I see Jeff K. joined today...that is very cool.
How bout that dude Nolan Bushman..........uhh... Bushnell ? You know.... the Atari guy. Or some people at Nutting ??

I saw Bushnell in one of the arcade related groups on Facebook... if there isn't better contact info then perhaps that would work as a way to ask him.
